Jennifer Adam is an award-winning Scottish Playwright, her play Walk a Mile was one of five plays that won the Scottish Short Play Award in 2017.
HER is Jennifer’s second play to be commissioned by Strange Town Theatre Company. She was commissioned to write the play Balisong about knife crime and active citizenship with Strange Town Theatre in partnership with Fast Forward and No Knives Better Lives. Balisong has since been recommissioned twice, touring schools across every local authority in Scotland between 2017 and 2019. The show was seen by 44,000 young people at 225 performances. Both plays were published by Salamander Street.
Jennifer is the Co-Founder of the Tandem Writing Collective, a female-led scratch theatre company which has produced 55 short plays at 20 events since 2016. As one of three playwrights who make up Tandem, Jennifer has written 19 of these short plays, directed two of them and co-produced all 55.
Jennifer has written two plays for the Edinburgh Just Festival as part of the Edinburgh Fringe with Black Dingo Productions, one of which, Warrior, went on to tour in two separate school runs funded by Nil by Mouth and Sense over Sectarianism. Warrior also received a run at the Citizen’s Theatre in Glasgow.
Jennifer has written a number of short plays, working with Strange Town Theatre Company, Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival, A Play, A Pie and A Pint, Tron Theatre, Moonfly Theatre Company, In Motion Theatre Company, Braw Fox Theatre Company, Discover 21 and Village Pub Theatre. She has also written a short radio play, Looped, for BBC Radio Drama.
Jennifer was shortlisted for the Tron Theatre’s Mayfesto Award in 2019 and was one of the Playwrights’ Studio Scotland’s mentored playwrights in 2017.
