Little Town Blue

by Red Biscuit

A fast-paced, anarchic comedy-horror about friendship, corruption, poisoned water and three spectacularly ill-equipped young men trying to save a town.

Chad, Brad and Sven are heading out on the ultimate American road trip: beers, boys, bald eagles and absolutely no liberals telling them what to do.

Then the road closes.

Stranded overnight in Little Town Blue, they discover a town where the water is suspicious, the locals are even stranger, and everyone seems remarkably relaxed about the blood on the streets each morning.

At the centre of it all is Mayor Flyn, whose highly profitable water company has a few unfortunate side effects.

Armed with very little common sense, Chad, Brad and Sven set out to expose the truth. Unfortunately, the people of Little Town Blue may not actually want saving.

Little Town Blue is a riotous satire of corporate power, political complacency and the compromises we make when the system seems to be working well enough for us. Combining physical comedy, horror, improvisation, multi-roling and gleefully low-tech theatrical invention, it is designed to be played with energy, imagination and a willingness to embrace chaos.

The original production was created and performed by Red Biscuit, who developed the show over a decade of friendship and collaboration. The 2026 production played Camden People’s Theatre, Brighton, the University of Chichester and The Pleasance in London, and was nominated for an International Touring Award.

Characters

The play contains 32 characters, but is deliberately designed for extensive doubling. Red Biscuit performed it with a cast of five: three actors playing Chad, Brad and Sven and two actors taking on the remaining roles at considerable speed.

The published edition encourages companies to make the production their own: expand the cast, increase or reduce the multi-roling, use puppets, ignore the puppets, improvise and adapt the staging to suit your company.

Cast: 5+ recommended; 32 roles with extensive doubling possible
Genre: Comedy / satire / comedy-horror
Suitable for: Fringe theatre, university and drama-school productions, youth and emerging companies, ensemble performance
Themes: friendship, political corruption, corporate power, capitalism, complacency, American culture, social responsibility

BIOGRAPHY
Red Biscuit are five best friends making fast-paced character comedy for the stage. They met while studying at the University of Chichester and developed Little Town Blue from an early version created during their student years. Their work combines multi-roling, physical comedy, improvisation and an affection for deliberately theatrical, low-tech storytelling. The group comprises Theo Moore, Nathan Charles, Murray Burgess, Craig Unadkat and Ted Vaudrey. The original production of Little Town Blue was performed by the five members of Red Biscuit.
