Description

In an engaging and honest interview Stewart Laing shares what sparked his passion for theatre and how he has continued to find ways to nurture and grow it. The conversation with long time collaborator Pamela Carter flows around a series of photographs, which mark key points in Laing’s career to date, offering a real insight into one of Scotland’s great theatre makers.

This pamphlet is the first in a new series of interviews with Scottish performance designers.

The Envelope Room exists to support, promote and connect stage designers (including set, costume, lighting and video designers) based in Scotland. Through a programme of events and workshops, we encourage continued professional development for designers, enabling them to collaborate with other artists; expand their contacts; engage with international work; develop skills and enhance their creative practice. Working with partners across the theatre community throughout Scotland, we continue to explore the relationship between designers and other theatre makers.
